Northern seeks its great Wight hope
...The moving force in the new search is Northern Petroleum, which has been given planning permission to drill a well on the island's Sandhills licence area and hopes to drill a second well on its Bouldnor Copse licence...

What goes up...
...Closer to home, Lewes may not strike you as the Dallas of Southern England but it might be, sort of, since oil wells are being drilled right there on the sunny south coast. Energy minnows Northern Petroleum and Black Rock Oil and Gas are in the neighbourhood and hope to strike gold (of the oily variety) some time in the near future.
